The methods in design of reinforced concrete are changing as the technology is progressing; consequently the codes of practice have to be updated frequently when compared with the other methods of construction. The Indian Code of practice on Plain and Reinforced Concrete, IS: 456 that is considered to be mother code for design and construction of concrete structures has gone through the fourth revision and now being implemented in India.
The revised edition of the book is based on the revised code of practice, IS: 456-2000. The section on the durability of concrete structures is expanded considering the latest trends in the durability-based design of concrete structures and the code specifications. A section on quality assurance in concrete structures is added incorporating the acceptability criteria of concrete as per the revised code of practice.
