Two years after we saw the , at first glance it looks like not all that much has changed with the D7200. Both models look pretty much exactly the same, aside from the name badge, WiFi and NFC logos. The thing is, the lack of design change isn't really a bad thing, the layout of controls with the older model was pretty much perfect and one of my favourite things about the D7100, so there isn't much point in messing with a winning formula. Wi-Fi is probably the most tangible new feature but there are lots of other improvements under the bonnet. Battery life has increased from 950 to 1,100 shots. There & rsquo;s a faster processor and larger buffer for longer bursts of photos. Video capture is now at up to 60fps at 1080p. The autofocus sensor retains its 51-point array but this time they work better in low light, quoted as being sensitive down to -3 EV compared to the D7100 & rsquo;s -2 EV. There & rsquo;s a new sensor with an ISO range that's increased by two stops, although the highest 512,000 and 1,024,000 settings are black and white only. We & rsquo;ve always liked that Nikon & rsquo;s controls lend themselves to two-handed use. Hold down one of the buttons to the left of the screen and the dual command dials are reassigned accordingly. This technique isn't ideal when supporting a heavy telephoto lens but otherwise we find it easier than Canon's approach where everything is done with the right hand, which can get a little fiddly.

Nearly two years after Canon ; the company has announced its successor with the EOS 1300D. The Canon 1300D is an incremental update to the 1200D. First on the list of upgrades is the faster DIGIC 4 powering the camera, which should allow for faster image processing and focusing speeds. The sensor is the same 18-megpaixel APS-C CMOS sensor while the ISO range stays at 100-6,400. The resolution of the 3-inch LCD screen has improved to nearly double at 920k dots, which should give you a sharper and clearer image.The biggest change however is the addition of Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity, which now allows you to instantly transfer images to your smartphone or remotely frame a shot with Canon's Camera Connect app. Other Canon 1300D features include 1080p video recording, 9-point autofocus system and burst shooting up to 3fps. The 1100D is aimed primarily at first-time DSLR buyers on a budget, and at compact users looking to upgrade to a DSLR they can expand their knowledge of photography with. As such, you & rsquo;d expect ease-of-use to figure quite highly, along with the ability to deliver the same high image quality that & rsquo;s come to be associated with Canon DSLRs. However, given the price, it & rsquo;s also reasonable to expect the omission of some of the more advanced features found on more expensive DSLRs. Indeed, with the 1100D this is pretty much what you get. As a direct replacement for the that was launched back in 2008, the 1100D enjoys several notable upgrades over its predecessor, while some of the features found on recent Canon models located higher up the range are unsurprisingly absent too. Despite the jump up in resolution, the new sensor provides the same standard sensitivity range of ISO 100-12,800, with an extended ISO 25,600 setting also available. To ensure the 760D is capable of processing its higher resolution files as fast as possible, Canon has paired the new chip with its latest DIGIC 6 image processor, allowing it to shoot a continuous burst at up to 5fps. Despite this being no faster than the speed the EOS 700D shoots at, the burst depth has seen a significant improvement and where it was previously possible to rattle off 22 JPEGs or six raw files at 5fps on the 700D, it & rsquo;s now possible to shoot 940 JPEGs or up to eight raw files consecutively on the 760D. To offer a comparison, the 760D & rsquo;s closest rival & ndash; the Nikon D5500 & ndash; also shoots at 5fps. For some time now we & rsquo;ve got used to Canon rolling out beginner DSLRs with a nine-point diamond formation AF system, so it & rsquo;s refreshing to see the EOS 760D offering a more sophisticated 19-point all-cross-type autofocus system. This is the same AF system as found on the EOS 750D and the arrangement of AF points, combined with a working range of -0.5EV to 18EV is identical to Canon & rsquo;s more advanced EOS 70D. When shooting in live view, the EOS 760D features the same Hybrid CMOS AF III system as the EOS M3, rather than Canon & rsquo;s Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology that & rsquo;s used in the EOS 70D.
