Note that vertical pressure affects pump pressure. If you have a shallow height for your pond: like 4 fit, there's less pressure of water on the pump. If you have a pond with heigh level of water, you can position the pipes/ air stone at the middle of the water where pressure is OK for it to pump effectively. The most important thing is that the water is aerated and surface tension is broken and fishes recives air. Fishes will always be able to locate where air is and go there plus so far the pump blows and surface tension is broken, there will be air for the fishes all around the pond/ vessel. This is the trick.
There are two ways the air compressor dose this. Firstly it pumps air directly into the water, secondly it vibrates the water and breaks surface tension at the surface of the water which is caused by water staying still, thus as it vibrates the water at the surface, the surface of the water in the pond is opened up which allows even more air in the atmosphere to find its way into the water.
