One of the most popular red wines sold today, Frontera Cabernet Sauvignon traces its origins to the crossing of red Cabernet Franc and white Sauvignon Blanc grapes from Bordeaux. The producer, Concha y Toro is the largest producer of wines from Latin America and is one of the global leaders in its field. It is headquartered in Santiago, Chile.
The Concha y Toro Vineyard was founded by Don Melchor de Santiago Concha y Toro and his wife, Emiliana Subercaseaux, in 1883. To start the winery, he brought grape varieties from the Bordeaux region in France. The grapes that he brought were: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Merlot, and Carmenere.
Today, Cabernet Sauvignon is known around the world, having its presence in more than 120 countries. This wine loves to be aged in oak and it has an elegance and earns great respect due to the complexity and diversity of characteristics, stemming from nuances of what the Chilean landscape gives to the grape. The chemical compound in the grape gives it a distinct note of green peppers. Thick skins lead to remarkably high tannins, and strong red and black fruit-forward characteristics on both the nose and palate.
Chilean Cabs usually age in American oak for 1-2 years which gives them classic hints of vanilla, spice, and tobacco. It is dark, ruby red with aromas of cherries and blackberries. This Cabernet Sauvignon is very concentrated, rich in flavour, perfectly balanced, and boasts a satisfying and lingering finish.
Enjoy the rich flavour and satisfying taste of this well-balanced red wine. Best served slightly below room temperature, at 16 Degree Celsius.
