The dial gauge has distinct, easily-read figures for precise measurement to 0.01 mm, and dual, resettable counters additionally measure discrete up and down distance changes, in 0.1 mm increments.
A large, hand-operated feed wheel raises and lowers the gauge on the parallel beams with smooth, even travel. The included scriber, used to mark a position on a workpiece, is 80 mm long and 32 mm high, carbide-tipped for hardness and long life, and is held to the gauge by a screw clamp for easy and secure fastening. The grip-base design provides comfort when holding the unit in position by hand. The dial and counters display large, easily-viewed figures. The mass (weight) of the height gauge is 9.8 kg.
