Inositol, or more precisely myo-inositol, is a carbocyclic sugar that is abundant in the brain and other mammalian tissues; it mediates cell signal transduction in response to a variety of hormones, neurotransmitters, and growth factors and participates in osmoregulation.

In female infertility, it has been suggested to reduce the amount of gonadotropin required for ovarian stimulation, improves egg numbers and quality and that high levels in amniotic fluid are associated with improved follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) signaling, oocyte maturation and embryo development.

Myo-inositol, a member of the B-complex family (vitamin B8), has been shown to promote female fertility through supporting hormone balance and ovarian function.*
