This type of gathering foot for domestic sewing machine is for low shank domestic sewing machine. It is mostly fitted on domestic sewing machine with removable snap on adapter. These machines include New Home, Janome, Brother, Victoria, Singer and other low shank domestic sewing machines
- The gathering foot is fitted with a slid - in groove that fits into your sewing machine shank. To install the presser foot, kindly unscrew and remove the snap-on adapter on your machine and insert the gathering presser foot after which you screw the foot to the shank.
- The foot has an additional groove towards the base of the foot. The function is to enable you sew and gather at the same time. You have to insert one fabric in the groove and the second fabric (to be gathered) at the bottom.
- To achieve good result, kindly increase your tension (depending on your machine) up to few numbers before the highest.
- While sewing, remember to put your fingers behind the foot and try to push back the fabric towards the foot as you sew. This will allow thicker gathering.
