The Sony PXW-Z90 4K Camcorder offers autofocus with facial detection and HDR capabilities in a compact body. The PXW-Z90 is suitable for business events, news broadcasts and television productions. The camcorder features a 1" Exmor RS CMOS sensor with UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution, a 12x Zeiss optical zoom, an OLED viewfinder and a 3.5" touch screen LCD screen. 4K Recording is possible in XAVC Long with 4:2:0, HD in XAVC Long with 4:2:2 10-bit, as well as MPEG HD in 4:2:2 (requires optional license key). S-Log3/S-Gamut3 features offer users additional image control. The PXW-Z90's fast hybrid autofocus uses high density autofocusing points and a newly developed AF algorithm to allow ultra precise focusing and tracking, ideal for individual operators. During shooting, phase detection AF frames can be used to monitor the focus of your subject. The 3.5 inch touch screen is used to quickly change the focus between subjects. AF Drive Speed, Tracking Depth Range and Subject Switching Sensitivity can each be set for different subjects and content styles.
Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) enables you to make your output future-proof by smoothly integrating your 4K recordings into an HDR workflow without requiring colour classification during post-editing. Capture images with high-quality contrast and resolution by using the 12x optical Zeiss zoom of the PXW-Z90 and 18x 4K digital zoom (24x in HD). An integrated ND filter function provides for better exposure. The PXW-Z90 camera supports Sony's Slow & Quick Motion for recording HD video at variable frame rates, including 120 fps. Recording is possible in different formats, at different frame rates and codecs, the camcorder supports 100 Mb/s XAVC Long recording of 4K UHD video up to 29.97p and 50 Mb/s HD recording up to 59.94p. Material is recorded via two SD memory card slots, either simultaneously on both cards or in relay mode to back up. Additional features are built-in 2.4GHz for multiple streaming and FTP options. The audio features of the PXW-Z90 include two 3-pin XLR audio inputs that support line, microphone and mic + 48V (phantom power) for the use of external microphones; you can also use the PXW-Z90's built-in microphone to record audio while recording movies.
