As a changing pattern of West Africa Both students and teachers es ECorricalCEdden in doubt, aware of Examinations Council's Exant, many of the existing textbooks on the subject, Economics, are fast becoming either out-of date or inadequate. This book has this has to be wrten in an attempt to meet the challenges of the changing times, even though it makes no pretence at covering the sylabus exhaustively since some of the major theoretical issues are barely touched upon. The book assumes no pre neus ni knowledge of the subject and it is hoped that it will prove helpfu and instructive to nume-rous students and teachers and thus help to support the mission
All categories of students of Economics up to the advantage level as well as their respective teachers will surely benefit immensely from this book. Many person helped in their various capacities to make this book a reality. Notable among such persons are Messrs. Jacob Ishola Arthur, Stephen Adoma-Veboah, Kwaku Asare-Budu, Samuel Antwi-Berko, Kuane Oauro-ofor, Mamoudou codjo Serous, Sustn . Chikezie, 5. L. Two groups of students whose persistent requests for a more suitable text-book on the subject greatly goaded me into action are the 1978/79 Forms Four and Five Students whom I taught at St. Monica's College, Kabba, Kwara State.
