This is a tamper-evident security seal, providing a
visual indicator to determine tampering or removal. They are commonly applied on electric meters, water meters, gas meters, valves, drums, etc. It is primarily designed to prevent equipment tamper and shown when equipment is tampered through irreparable damage indicator of the seal In other words, meter seals are designed to prevent unauthorized access to meters, and cannot be opened without being damaged, thus it is understood whether they have been tampered with by unauthorized persons. The design of this seal makes it impossible to be tampered without been broken. A broken seal indicates an ultimate tamper of the meter or other equipment in question.
